A significant winter-weather event will continue to unfold during the mid- to late-week period from parts of Texas into the Ohio Valley and central Appalachians. In areas where ice accretions (due to freezing rain) reach one-quarter to one-half inch, major travel and electrical disruptions may occur. During the second half of the week, a gradual erosion of cold air will lead to more precipitation changing to rain, with Southern totals reaching 1 to 3 inches or more.
