KEARNEY – The Tri-City Storm is set to host the Waterloo Black Hawks for a two-game series this weekend at the Viaero Center. Puck drop for tonight’s battle is scheduled for 7:05pm CT.
Ticket specials for tonight’s home game in Kearney will include a $5 Kids’ Friday presented by Big Apple Fun Center. Tomorrow’s game will serve as the Storm’s “First Responders Night” presented by All American Sewer & Drain. Tri-City will wear specialty jerseys that will be auctioned off following the game. Proceeds from the postgame auction will benefit the First Responders Foundation. $10 tickets will be available for purchase at the Viaero Center Box Office for tomorrow’s matchup between the Storm and the Black Hawks.
Tri-City (18-15-1-3) seeks to protect home ice tonight following back-to-back road victories last weekend against the Omaha Lancers and Sioux Falls Stampede. The Storm collected a 3-2 win on Sunday evening at the Denny Sanford PREMIERE Center after holding off a ferocious six-on-five attack that lasted nearly ten minutes to end the matchup. Graham Gamache, Tanner Adams, and Dane Dowiak netted goals for Tri-City in the victory. Cameron Korpi stopped 35 of Sioux Falls’ 37 shots on goal, and was named the USHL’s Goaltender of the Week on Monday. Scoring leaders for the Storm entering tonight’s home game against the Black Hawks includes Jake Richard (18), Evan Werner (14), Graham Gamache (13), Kieran Cebrian (11), Alex Bump (9), and Sebastian Törnqvist (9). Tri-City is seeking to defeat Waterloo for the first time this season in tonight’s game. The Storm is 0-4-0-0 in head-to-head matchups against the Black Hawks this season, after producing a 5-1-0-0 record last year. Tri-City is 7-2-2-0 in games played against Waterloo at the Viaero Center over the past five seasons.
Waterloo (25-13-0-0) enters this weekend’s road series against Tri-City four points behind the Fargo Force for 1st place in the USHL’s Western Conference standings. The Black Hawks have won eight of the last ten games, and have netted seven more goals than any other team in the conference this season (153). Waterloo split last weekend’s home series against Fargo at Young Arena. The Black Hawks roared back after falling behind 3-1 early in the 3rd period to force an overtime finish to Saturday night’s game. Sam Rinzel scored his sixth goal of the season in overtime to lift Waterloo to the 4-3 win. Scoring leaders for the Black Hawks entering tonight’s road game at the Viaero Center includes Miko Matikka (19), Myles Hillman (16), Garrett Schifsky (14), Gavin O’Connell (13), James Hong (11), Aaron Pionk (9), and Gavin Lindberg (9). Waterloo is 12-13-0-0 in head-to-head matchups against Tri-City in the last five seasons.
