Troopers arrested a suspect of a gas station robbery north of Lincoln Saturday.

According to the Nebraska State Patrol, at 9 a.m. Saturday troopers responded to a reported robbery at a gas station in Valparaiso.

Troopers located the suspect vehicle within ten minutes traveling southbound on Highway 79 south of Raymond.

A trooper attempted a traffic stop, but the suspect vehicle refused to yield and accelerated at a high rate of speed. A pursuit was initiated.

The suspect vehicle reached speeds up to 110 miles per hour, before being brought to stop through tactical vehicle intervention.

The driver then fled on foot but was taken into custody when another trooper drove ahead and was able to take them into custody.

The vehicle was later determined to be stolen.

Troppers identified the driver as Christopher Short, 22, of Norfolk. Short was lodged in Lancaster County Jail for possession of stolen property, flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, obstructing a peace officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, and other charges.

The Saunders County Sheriff’s Office has additional charges related to the gas station robbery. Short also had an active warrant from Madison County.
