Nebraska has joined 46 other states in asking for a court order that TikTok comply with an ongoing investigation as to whether TikTok violated consumer protection laws.
The investigation is seeking to review internal communication and determine whether the company engaged in deceptive, unfair, and unconscionable conduct that harmed the mental health of TikTok users, specifically children and teens.
According to the news release, the company has failed to persevere relevant information on and provide internal communications in a usable format. The company has also allowed the continuation of an instant messaging service used between employees, that auto deletes messages. Which has made provided messages to the states difficult to use and navigate.
