A fatal crash occurred in Merrick County Saturday.
According to the Merrick County Sheriff’s Office news release, emergency crews responded to a crash on 6th Road and Ormsby Road in rural Archer at 3:56 a.m Saturday. The call came in after a utility employee reported a single vehicle accident while investigating a power outage.
Once on the scene, emergency crews and law enforcement found that a 2007 Nissan Sentra travelling westbound on Ormsby Road had failed to navigate a curve and left the roadway striking a power pole.
The driver was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver did not utilize a seat belt. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to have played a factor in the crash.
The victim is not being identified, pending family notification.
