THE MASTERS BEGINS ACTION TODAY:
For the 87th time, the center of the golfing world shifts to Augusta National for The Masters on Thursday.
The first major of the season will see Scottie Scheffler attempt to defend the green jacket he eased into with a dominant victory at last year’s tournament.
The American finished three-shots ahead of Rory McIlroy, who once again returns to Georgia chasing the crown that would see him become just the sixth player to win all four majors and complete golf’s grand slam.
Tiger Woods is among the illustrious group to have completed the feat, and a shock victory come Sunday would see him draw level with Jack Nicklaus’ record of six Masters wins. The 47-year-old is making his 25th appearance at Augusta, though said Tuesday he is unsure if it will be his last.
Live coverage begins on ESPN at 1 p.m. ET. ESPN will broadcast the first two rounds before coverage switches to CBS for the weekend, starting at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday and 2 p.m. ET for Sunday’s deciding round.
MICKEY JOSEPH ASSAULT CHARGES DISMISSED:
A Lancaster County judge on Wednesday dismissed the felony assault case against former interim Husker coach Mickey Joseph.
The alleged victim refused to testify, dismissing the felony assault case against the former assistant coach.
Joseph had faced a charge of assault by strangulation or suffocation in connection with a November domestic disturbance at the home where he and his wife, Priscilla Joseph, lived.
Joseph was Nebraska’s interim football coach for nine games in 2022 following the firing of Scott Frost. Joseph was placed on administrative leave after his arrest, and the university announced two weeks later that he was no longer with the football program.
During his time with Nebraska, Joseph led the Huskers to wins over Indiana, Rutgers, and Iowa.

John Elway, the face of the Denver Broncos following 16 seasons as a player and more than a decade in the front office, has seen his time under contract with the franchise come to an end.
Elway’s consulting deal with the Broncos finished at the conclusion of the league year last month and the club will not be renewing it, NFL Network’s James Palmer reported Tuesday. Palmer added Elway moving on from the Broncos had been planned.
After a decorated career in Denver, the rocket-armed quarterback returned to the team’s front office, serving as director of player personnel/general manager/executive vice president of football operations from 2011-2020.
