KEARNEY – The Kearney Boys Soccer team picked up their second win of the week on Thursday with a 2-0 victory over Omaha Central.
The Bearcats scored both their goals with a ferocious south wind at their back. Damian Arredondo broke the scoring open in the 11th minute, giving the Senior a goal in his first start. Lucas Crittendon would double the lead in the 27th minute off a free kick.
The Bearcat defense and goalkeeper Nathan Hibberd stood tall in the second half, when Omaha Central had their wind-aided half end with multiple open opportunities but no chance to break the clean sheet. Hibberd unofficially had five second half saves to post his sixth shutout of the season.
