The Bearcats aimed to get back to their winning ways having won five in a row before falling in back-to-back matchups against Elkhorn North and Lincoln Southwest. Burke came in having lost to Creighton Prep on Monday night 7-5.
The contest began hot for Kearney as the Bearcats took control early off stellar pitching by senior Aidan Poppe and Karter Lee shined early, hitting a triple to get the bats rolling early. The first inning had Griffin Novacek singling to score Lee, while the Bearcats added another run later in the inning.

The second and third innings both produced four runs each for Kearney, as a triple by Kaleb Larson brought in a score along with Burns, Lee, and others adding in RBIs.
Burke rallied with three runs in the fourth and four runs in the seventh, but the Bearcats held steady to earn their twelfth win on the season.
Kearney (12-13) awaits their postseason draw as does Burke (11-15). Kearney won with ten runs on fifteen hits and one error with Burke having four runs on ten hits and one error.
