RAIOLA VERBALLY COMMITS TO GEORGIA:

Dylan Raiola’s Nebraska recruitment is over and done with.

The five-star quarterback and No. 1 overall player in the country has committed to Georgia. He announced the decision on Instagram and Twitter on Monday morning.

Nebraska made a strong, consistent all-out effort to land Raiola, but he will continue his extremely bright career in the SEC, choosing the Bulldogs over the Huskers, USC and Oregon among others.

HUSKER BASEBALL SWEEPS PENN STATE SERIES ON SENIOR DAY:

Nebraska wrapped up its home slate this season with a three-game sweep of Penn State, as the Huskers recorded an 8-5 win over the Nittany Lions on Senior Day at Hawks Field at Haymarket Park.

Nebraska (29-20-1, 13-8 Big Ten) scored eight runs on nine hits and two errors, while Penn State (24-22, 6-14 Big Ten) had five runs on 10 hits.

Will Walsh pitched four innings in the start, allowing three runs, two earned, on five hits with two strikeouts. Corbin Hawkins moved to 3-0 on the season after dealing 2.1 innings in relief.

Nebraska hits the road for the final series of the regular-season, as the Huskers venture to Purdue for a three-game series on Thursday-Saturday.

NEBRASKA SOFTBALL SELECTED FOR STILLWATER REGIONAL:

The Nebraska softball team (34-20) has been selected for the NCAA Regional in Stillwater, Okla., and will play Wichita State (43-10) on Friday, May 19, at 6 p.m. (CT) on ESPNU.

Oklahoma State (41-14) is the tournament’s No. 6 overall seed and will host UMBC (26-15).

Friday will be the third meeting between Nebraska and Wichita State this season.

Sunday’s selection marks Nebraska’s 26th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history. This is Nebraska’s 22nd NCAA Tournament appearance under Head Coach Rhonda Revelle. Revelle’s 22 NCAA Tournament appearances rank third among active coaches at their current school.

WALLACE NAMED TO ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM:

Courtney Wallace was named to the 2023 Big Ten All-Tournament team at the conclusion of the tournament on Saturday afternoon.

Wallace appeared in both tournament games for Nebraska, finishing the weekend with a 1-1 record, including a complete-game shutout over Illinois. The fifth-year senior also went 2-for-2 at the plate against No. 19 Northwestern. This marks Wallace’s second consecutive year earning All-Tournament honors.

LOPER T&F BREAKS SCHOOL RECORDS IN FINAL QUALIFYING WEEKEND:

The Nebraska-Kearney track and field team set four new school-records and had several likely NCAA Championship qualifying efforts this weekend at the Concordia Twilight and Loper Twilight meets.

In Seward Friday night, Aurora junior Kyla Carlson broke a nine-year old mark in the 400 hurdles thanks to a 1:02.05.

Also at CU, Kearney super senior Haley Schall won the long jump with a career-best leap of 19-0.75. That moves up three spots to sixth on UNK’s all-time list.

Alex Goracke went almost seven feet further in the hammer “invite” on Saturday – 198-1 – to break the old UNK standard of 197-5.

The final record came in the last event of the weekend as Jack Drahota, Wallace redshirt junior Micah Swedberg, St. Paul freshman Conner Wells and Fremont junior Wes Ferguson won the 4×4 relay (3:09.19).

The NCAA Championships are Memorial Day Weekend in Pueblo, Colo.

HUSKER T&F SHATTERS RECORDS ENROUTE TO BIG TEN TITLE:

The Nebraska men’s track and field team won the Big Ten outdoor team championship on Sunday at the Haugh Track and Field Complex in Bloomington, Ind.

The Husker men won their first Big Ten outdoor title since 2016 with 151 points, their most at a conference meet since 2004. It also marks their first conference championship under first-year head coach Justin St. Clair.

The Nebraska women finished third with 112 points, which was their most points ever at a Big Ten meet.

The Huskers finished the meet with 12 event titles, four of which came on Sunday.
