KEARNEY – The Runza Seniors of Kearney evened up their season record with a home-opening win at Memorial Field on Wednesday night, taking down Grand Island Home Federal 9-3. Click here to listen to the broadcast replay.
Kearney came off of a loss at North Platte the night prior while Grand Island was 1-0 entering the second game of the year after beating Hastings in a late contest on Tuesday night.

Runza Senior Legion Baseball v. GI Home Federal
Grand Island had a brief lead in the first inning until Bryce Andersen started his strong day, smacking an RBI double to score a tying run. The second inning put Kearney in the lead they would never cede, as the Runza seniors scored from Kaleb Larson’s double, Nolan Smith’s single, and another Bryce Andersen RBI off a single.
In the sixth nursing a 5-3 advantage, Runza elevated their batting further to score four runs as Kole Throckmorton, Quinn Foster, and Jase Blattner all had RBIs.

Foster earned the win on the mound for Kearney, going four innings and allowing three runs on three hits with five strikeouts. Jacob Hansen stepped out of the bullpen throwing three innings of relief.
Kearney and Grand Island both return to action this weekend at Ryder Park in the Grand Island triangular.
