Two are dead following a collision Friday near Shelby.
The crash happened on Highway 81 just shortly after 10 pm, where a pickup driven by 42-year-old Jesse Vasquez Espinoza Jr of North Dakota fell asleep at the wheel, crossing the center line and colliding with a sedan driven by 60-year-old Viola Peace of Polk County.
Peace was declared deceased at the scene. Vasquez Espinoza Jr was airlifted to Bryan West in Lincoln and passed away as a result of his injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
