A Merrick county man was arrested following a Monday crash.

According to the Merrick County Sheriff’s Office, a two-vehicle injury accident occurred on Highway 30 and 2nd Road Monday.

The investigation concluded that a 2010 Ford F150 traveling southbound on 2nd Road approached Highway 30 at a high rate of speed, failed to slow down for the railroad tracks, failed to yield to the stop sign and collided with a westbound 2017 Chrysler Pacifica on Highway 30 occupied by several occupants.

The driver of Ford F150, John N. Groves of Merrick County, was arrested for driving under the influence, willful reckless driving, open alcohol containers, seltbelt violation, and stop sign violation. Groves was lodged in Merrick County Corrections.

A passenger of the Chrysler Pacifica was transported for non-life threatening injuries sustained during the accident.

Seatbelts were in use in the Chrysler Pacifica and no seatbelts in use in the Ford F150 during the time of the accident.

Impaired reckless driving is the contributing factor in this accident.
