OMAHA – The Runza Seniors of Kearney had to wait until Day Two, but their win over Bryant, Ark. earned them the first victory of the CWS Creighton Prep Tournament.

Kearney (12-11) won, scoring eleven runs on eight hits and two errors, while Bryant fell scoring no runs with one hit and two errors.

Kole Throckmorton was a key piece to the Kearney puzzle, driving in five runs on three hits. Throckmorton tripled in the second scoring two, singled in the third scoring one, and doubled in the fifth scoring one.

The bottom of the lineup was also remarkably strong, as Kaleb Larson, Throckmorton, and Quinn Foster combined for four of the team’s eight hits in the win.

Kearney was up early as Foster had a sacrifice fly in the second adding one run, followed by Throckmorton’s big triple adding two.

Bryce Andersen earned the win for Kearney giving up one hit and no runs over five
