RUNZA SENIORS BEGIN AMERICAN DIVISION PLAYOFFS:
The Runza Seniors of Kearney will make their trip to Bellevue West on Saturday, continuing their postseason run as the A7 District Runner-Up.
Kearney will take on Creighton Prep Five Points Bank today at 4 PM from Bellevue West. KGFW’s pregame coverage is set for 3:45 PM with Alex Hammeke and Mitchell Brandt on the call.

BEARCAT ALUM BRETT MAHER SIGNS WITH BRONCOS:
Former Husker and Kearney Bearcat Brett Maher will be kicking for a new team this season. Numerous sources confirm that he has signed a one year deal with the Denver Broncos.
Maher had kicked for the Saints in 2021 under current Broncos Head Coach Sean Payton.
Maher struggled with the Cowboys in the post-season last year after having a great regular season. He had a try out with Denver earlier this summer.
USWNT DOWNS VIETNAM IN OPENING ROUND OF WORLD CUP:
Sophia Smith scored twice for the United States in the opening half and the two-time defending champions kicked off the Women’s World Cup with a 3-0 victory over tournament first-timers Vietnam on Saturday.
Saturday’s game was the first meeting between the United States and Vietnam.
The group plays all of their matches in New Zealand, which is co-hosting the tournament with Australia. The United States plays the Netherlands in a 2019 final rematch on Thursday in Wellington.
Should the United States top the group, the team will head to Sydney for the round of 16.
