Tuesday morning UNK Football was voted as tied for fifth with Central Oklahoma in the MIAA Preseason Coaches poll and sixth in the media poll.

The Lopers went 8-3 last year, just outside of playoff and bowl contention.

New Head Coach for UNK Football Ryan spoke at Tuesday’s MIAA Football Media Days and stated that this new spot is a breath of fresh air compared to other beginnings in his career…

UNK was voted to finish fifth in the conference’s coaches poll after an 8-3 season last year.

HELD – SELLING THE MIAA IS EASY IN RECRUITMENT:

First year UNK Football Head Coach Ryan Held spoke about the adjustment in recruiting for the Lopers at Tuesday’s MIAA Media Days…

Held and the Lopers start their season on August 31 in Edmond, Okla. against Central Oklahoma.

SPIES – HELD IMPRESSED LEADERS WITH PHONE CALL:

Spies was speaking at the MIAA Media Days in Kansas City on Tuesday morning, where the Lopers were picked to finish 5th in the conference.

HUSKERS RANKED FIFTH IN BIG TEN MEDIA DAY:

The Big Ten Media poll released Tuesday morning, setting Nebraska for a fifth place finish in the West Division. Wisconsin was voted the favorite, followed by Iowa, Minnesota, and Illinois.

For the first time in four years, Ohio State football is not the preseason favorite to win the Big Ten Conference.

Michigan earned a comfortable margin as the projected conference champion. Of the 37 voters from across the league, 27 picked the Wolverines to win it all, compared to eight for Ohio State.

A third East Division team — Penn State — took the other two. Every voter followed through by picking their East Division winner as the overall champ.

Big Ten Media Days begins tomorrow in Indianapolis with Nebraska set to speak on Thursday morning.

REPORT – HARBAUGH EXPECTED TO RECEIVE FOUR GAME SUSPENSION:

Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh and the NCAA are discussing an agreement that would see him serve a four-game suspension as a part of the investigation into potential recruiting violations within the program.

Negotiations between the two parties broke down because Harbaugh “has refused to sign any document or publicly state that he was ever untruthful with the enforcement staff.”

The NCAA cited four Level II violations in its draft of allegations. Among other things, they claimed Michigan staffers met with a pair of recruits during a COVID-19 dead period and had analysts involved in on-field workouts.

Harbaugh’s return would coincide with a matchup on the road against Nebraska.

SPORTS NIGHTLY COMMENTS – MARCUS SATTERFIELD:

SATTERFIELD – BUY IN FROM TEAM HAS BEEN SINCE JANUARY

Offensive Coordinator for Nebraska Football Marcus Satterfield spoke on Sports Nightly last night, and said he’s been elated with the team’s buy in since the start of the off-season…

Nebraska aims to get a new offensive scheme on track early, beginning fall camp next week and facing Minnesota on the road on August 31.

SATTERFIELD – SPRING GAME FUMBLES NEED CORRECTED:

Marcus Satterfield, offensive coordinator for the Nebraska Football team, said he liked everything he saw in spring practices and from the Red-White spring game – with one major exception…

Nebraska’s turnovers have been an issue since the start of the Scott Frost era, as the Huskers have ranked in the bottom half of the conference in turnover differential since 2016.

SATTERFIELD – JEFF SIMS SHOWCASES TALENT, ATHLETICISM:

Nebraska Football Offensive Coordinator Marcus Satterfield raved about quarterback Jeff Sims on Sports Nightly Monday night, heaping praise on the transfer’s traits…

The Huskers hope Sims can survive the entirety of the season, as Nebraska has not had a quarterback start in all twelve regular season games since Tanner Lee in 2017.
