LINCOLN — There were 18 people killed in traffic accidents on Nebraska roads, according to data that is collected by the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
The 18 fatalities occurred in 16 crashes, NDOT stated, 16 of the deaths occurred in rural locations, one was a bicyclist and one was a motorcyclist.
Last year there were 22 fatalities in August.
Four of the 16 occupants killed were not using their seatbelt, five were using a seatbelt and seven were unknown.
Between January and August 2023, there have been 133 fatalities in 121 crashes. Last year there were 159 fatalities in 114 crashes within the same period.
