JAMESTOWN, ND – After a record setting night the Hastings College volleyball team took on a tough Jamestown squad and fell in straight sets 20-25, 12-25, 21-25 on Saturday afternoon.
Midway through set one the Lady Broncos were playing tough building a slim 10-8 lead behind a kill from Grace Branson and then a set error from Paige Oswald but the Jimmies came right back with a 6-2 run and then pulled away late in the set to win it 25-20.
Set two as all Jamestown as they took the commanding 2-0 lead in the match.
Hastings battled tough in the third set getting a service ace from Hallee Sherman and then a kill from Madison Glenn as HC trailed just 20-19 in set three. But another quick 3-0 run from Jamestown knocked the wind out of Hastings’ sails and the Jimmies came away with the victory.
Jamestown hit .282 while holding Hastings to just .099.
Majesta Valasek and Branson led the way with six kills each while Makenna Asher finished with 21 assists. Miriam Miller led the team with 16 assists.
Hastings is now 8-9 (3-5) on the year and will be back in action Friday Oct. 6 as Dordt comes to town with first serve set for 7:30 pm inside Lynn Farrell Arena.
