MINDEN – A battle of titans in Class C1 went the way of the Stars Tuesday night, as top-seeded Minden Whippets fell for the first time in 2023 3-2 in the C1-10 Sub-District Final to Kearney Catholic.
Minden (32-1) is still in a favorable position, entering the evening as the top team in Class C1 in total PowerPoints and as the host of the C1-10 Sub-District. Kearney Catholic (29-2) takes the sub-district title and presumably the top spot in the Class C1 PowerPoints.
Kearney Catholic took the C1-10 Sub-District title 28-26, 16-25, 17-25, 25-23, and 15-8.
Minden had only dropped two sets on the year entering the contest.
Both teams will move to District Finals on Saturday. District Final assignments will be announced on Wednesday morning.
