House fire occurs on south side of Kearney Wednesday morning

KEARNEY — Kearney firefighters responded to a house fire on the south side of the community during the morning hours of Wednesday, Nov. 22.

Around 9 a.m., the Kearney Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched near the intersection of 1st St. and Central Ave. for the report of a structure fire in progress.

Arriving at 90 Central Ave., firefighters found smoke coming from the structure and moved into the interior of the residence. Firefighters also climbed on top of a porch overhang and began to open areas around the roof, smoke came pouring out as a result.

The Kearney Police Department reported via social media that everyone was out of the house and there were no known injuries at this time.

The KVFD was assisted on scene by the Kearney Police Department, Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office, CHI Good Samaritan Ambulance service, Nebraska Public Power District and NorthWestern Energy.
