GRAND ISLAND — Hall County Commissioner Karen Bredthauer said she filed Friday for re-election to the Hall County Board of Commissioners.
Bredthauer, 56, of 940 S. North Road has served on the County Board since 2017. She represents District 2, which covers an area in southwest Grand Island.
“I am committed to Hall County and wish to continue as a public servant by building on my proven voting record. I will maintain a philosophy to cut unnecessary spending , maximize efficiency, and focus on priorities, most important to residents in order to reduce their tax burden,” Bredthauer said.
“ I have emphasized careful and thorough consideration of the issues important to taxpayers. In 2021, I was appointed to Office of Violence Prevention by the governor, which deals with gang and gun violence awareness,” she said. “In 2022 I was appointed by the governor to Serve Nebraska/Nebraska Volunteer Service Commission. Their mission is to mobilize Nebraskans to strengthen their communities through volunteering, collaboration and national service programs.”
Bredthauer said the experiences have helped her at the county level.
“My experience clearly demonstrates success in setting priorities and capping spending. I have an established record of directly addressing the controversial issues most important to Grand Island and Hall County residents to achieve innovative solutions and provide quality services at a reasonable cost. My small business ownership and operation experience combined with my record as an elected official makes me an effective leader and representative to achieve an atmosphere where private business can thrive,” Bredthauer said.
