NORFOLK – A stout defense and rapid-fire shooting gave the Kearney boys basketball team their fourth straight win, blasting Norfolk 70-27. Click here to listen to the broadcast replay.
The Bearcats were on a hot stretch early, firing quickly with Jacob Webber and Ben Johnson combining for fourteen first quarter points with four triples between them. Norfolk was completely shut down by Kearney’s fast defense, as the Bearcats created multiple turnovers. Both ends of the floor were working for Kearney, leading 18-4 at the end of the first.
Kearney’s offense continued its attacking offense firepower, as Webber knocked down another three downtown shots. Karter Lee added seven points, Asher Endorf followed up with two lay-ins (including an and-one), and Johnson wrapped his scoring with four more points. The Bearcats defense allowed Norfolk their highest scoring output in the contest giving up ten points, but it was still Kearney’s day leading 43-14 at halftime.

Webber would tie his personal best – and team record – for three pointers in a game with nine triples, Endorf adding seven more points in the third, and the Bearcats prevented Norfolk a single point in the opening seven minutes of the third period as the Bearcats eased past Norfolk on the road for the 70-27 win.
Kearney (9-3) now hits their most dangerous stretch of the season, hosting Lincoln North Star and Bellevue West on Friday, Jan. 26 and Saturday, Jan. 27 at Kearney High School.
