HASTINGS — The residential structure at 211 E Second St. suffered extensive damage from a fire early Monday morning, Feb. 26.
The initial alarm came at 1:54 a.m.
The structure, just east of downtown, was vacant and under construction.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the State Fire Marshal.
Hastings Fire & Rescue was aided in the response to the incident by Hastings Rural, Glenvil and Juniata volunteer fire departments, Street Department, Hastings Utilities and the Salvation Army.
As of midmorning on Monday, traffic was still prohibited on the 200 block of East Second Street.
Hastings Utilities shut off gas and electrical service to the building.
No injuries were reported.
