LINCOLN – Nebraska baseball added Creighton catcher Hogan Helligso out of the transfer portal on Monday, giving the Huskers a veteran presence behind the plate.

After hounding the Huskers for the past three seasons, the Elkhorn South alum is set to join the Big Red for his final college baseball season.

Helligso appeared in 126 games for Creighton, making 102 starts. At the plate, Helligso hit .286 over his career with five home runs and 49 RBI.

Behind the plate, Helligso had a perfect fielding percentage in 2024 and committed just seven errors during his Creighton Career, earning second-team All-Big East honors in 2023 as a sophomore.

Helligso went 7 for 23 (.304) against Nebraska in his head-to-head matchups against the Big Red, including two home runs, three doubles, and three RBIs.

Creighton saw several players enter the transfer portal after the conclusion of their 2024 season, as head coach Ed Servais is set to retire at 2024. Nebraska is expected to be thin at catcher in the coming months, with Josh Caron likely to be drafted in the MLB Draft later this month. Nebraska will also add junior college catcher Collin Cymbalista in the fall.
