KEARNEY – During Kearney Legion Baseball’s Fan Appreciation Night Tuesday, a new addition to Memorial Field was showcased to the community.

A new scoreboard was unveiled in left-center field at Kearney’s Memorial Field, implementing new features, graphics, scorecards, and other amenities for use by the Kearney baseball programs and their opponents.

The new scoreboard was installed to the historic venue after receiving approval from the Kearney Public Schools School Board from a previous meeting in March. The digital board is powered by ScoreVision, a company familiar with Kearney High Athletics and is featured during Kearney High School basketball contests. Robert Goff, the supervisor for Kearney High School’s digital media program, assisted with the graphic designs and creativity of the project for Tuesday’s game.

The new addition had its work cut out in its opening game, as the Kearney Misko Seniors won a thrilling fourteen inning battle with Grand Island Home Federal 3-2. Memorial Field is unbeaten in defending its home teams under the new scoreboard, as the Post 52 Pinnacle Bank Juniors downed Grand Island Five Points Bank 7-1.
