KEARNEY — A preliminary hearing date has been set for a Kearney man who was sought for an arrest warrant and located after a traffic accident near Alda in February.
Hadenfeldt, 37, has been charged with first degree assault, Class 2 felony, strangulation, or suffocation resulting in serious bodily injury, a Class 2A felony and burglary, Class 2A felony.
Hadenfeldt has been held at the Nebraska Department of Corrections Reception and Treatment Center in Lincoln since the traffic accident.
A preliminary hearing was set for Wednesday July 3 at 1:30 p.m. Hadenfeldt will be transported from Lincoln for the hearing and then returned to the Reception and Treatment Center.
The affidavit in support of arrest was sealed by the Buffalo County District Court at the request of Buffalo County Attorney Shawn Eatherton, who noted the contents are, “part of an ongoing investigation and disclosure of the contents may compromise the investigation.”
On Wednesday, Feb. 14, the Kearney Police Department began investigating an assault that took place at a residence on L Avenue during the morning hours.
A 37-year-old Kearney woman sustained serious injuries as a result of the assault and was being treated at a local hospital, the Kearney Police Department said.
Just after 9 a.m., Kearney officers responded to a 911 call that a female was injured because of an assault and needed medical transport.
The officer’s investigation indicated that Hadenfeldt allegedly entered the home and assaulted the woman, leaving her unconscious with serious injuries.
An arrest warrant was issued for Hadenfeldt. It was noted officers were using all means at their disposal to locate him.
On Friday, Feb. 16 at 10:30 a.m., troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol responded to an accident south of the Alda interchange involving a black Chevrolet Silverado and a semi-truck.
During the investigation, the driver of the Silverado was identified as Hadenfeldt. He was transported to a hospital in Grand Island for treatment, he was later transported to Lincoln for further treatment.
