KEARNEY — The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office reminded residents of the restrictions associated with auxiliary vehicle lighting, including light bars.

According to the sheriff’s office, any motor vehicle may be equipped with two auxiliary driving lights mounted on the front at a height no less than 12 inches or over 42 inches above the level surface of the vehicle.

This does not apply to any vehicle equipped with a blade, plow or any other advice designed for the movements of snow.

Auxiliary lights must be turned off at the same time the vehicle’s headlights are required to be dimmed when approaching another vehicle either from the front or rear.

“This means your light bar mounted on the hood or roof of your pickup is violating this statute,” per the sheriff’s office.

For those who want to know more about auxiliary driving lights or light bars, they are encouraged to read the Nebraska Revised Statute 60-6,225.

The facts were provided by a “Did You Know,” post on social media that Deputy Wilson is creating each month for the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office.
