GRAND ISLAND – Approximately 473 quilts are displayed in the open class division located in the Pinnacle Bank Expo Center, according to volunteer Lynette Koelzer of Wood River.
A wide variety of quilts are displayed.
Koelzer said that one person may complete an entire quilt. Or one person may do the work to sew pieces of fabric together, and another person or company will do the quilting of the fabric.
The open class division has quilts made by people of all ages, ranging from a youth quilt division to a senior citizen division.
Examples of different types of quilts on display are bed quilts, throw quilts, and wall quilts, Koelzer said.
Quilts may be made from kits.
This year’s judge was Pamela Walsh of Colorado.
“We have different judges every year,” Koelzer said.
