Hall County Commissioners meeting, (Carol Bryant, Central Nebraska Today)

GRAND ISLAND – Hall County Commissioners are concerned about the lack of use of College Park, which is located at 3180 W. Highway 34.

“A large part of College Park is empty,” Commissioner Gary Quandt said. “I don’t know what’s going on. We can’t see it go by the wayside.” He said the county and city need to get involved in the matter.

Quandt said some classrooms and the library have not been used in five years.

Commissioner Karen Bredthauer said that the Department of Health and Human Services did go to College Park to consider it for possible office space.

University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension has offices in the building.

Quandt said that Commissioners should consider sending a letter to the College Park Board to find out what’s going on.

Commissioners ended up deciding to put discussion of College Park on the agenda for its next meeting and to invite College Park staff and board members to attend the meeting.
