LEXINGTON — To mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Lexington Regional Health Center, KRVN and Plum Creek Market Place hosted their annual, “Pinktober Fest” on Thursday, Oct. 3.

In the past, the three organizations hosted a “Drink for Pink” event inside Plum Creek Market Place. The third annual event of this kind was held in 2019.

After a year off due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was reimagined and expanded as the “Pinktober” event, that has now been held in the parking lot of Plum Creek Market Place with vendors filling up the space.

“We were so excited to have an amazing line up of vendors to come out for our 2024 event! Our vendors and supporters were troopers through the Nebraska wind but overall, we were so happy with our event. Our goal is to raise awareness and funds to help support breast cancer patients and we successfully reached out mission,” said Brenna Bartruff, LRHC Director of Marketing and Public Relations.

“I’d thank to thank everyone that came out, supported the vendors, bought raffle tickets, t-shirts or simply shared about our event. A huge shoutout as well to our radiology team for all they did to help with the event and the amazing care they provide our mammography patients,” Bartruff said.

“Studies show that screening remains the best form of prevention against breast cancer. Mammography is considered to be the best form of screening for breast cancer as well as other breast health concerns. Mammography uses radiation to create detailed and comprehensive images of the breast tissue in both male and female,” the LRHC website stated.
