GRAND ISLAND – An early morning fire Oct. 4 caused damage to Grand Island’s Valentino’s at 2245 N. Webb Road.

Grand Island Fire Department Battalion Chief Phil Thomas said that firefighters responded to the scene at 5 a.m. Oct. 4. One fire truck from each of the Fire Department’s four stations responded, which is standard for a structure fire, Thomas said.

Cause of the fire is under investigation. The fire originated in the kitchen. He estimated damage at $75,000 to $100,000. Damage occurred in the kitchen and attic, Thomas said.

The Health Department came and told Valentino’s staff what they needed to do before they could reopen, he said. He estimated that Valentino’s would not be open for anywhere from one week to one month.

Thomas said the fire caused smoke to enter two adjacent buildings: Hunan’s Restaurant, which is directly east of Valentino’s; and Willow Rising, which is just east of Hunan’s.
