GRAND ISLAND – Four young men died early Oct. 13 following a one-vehicle crash on the west side near the intersection of South Locust Street and Stagecoach Road.

At 12:14 a.m. Oct. 13, the Grand Island Police Department, Fire Department, and EMS were dispatched to the intersection for a vehicle crash, according to a news release from Grand Island Police Department Administrative Capt. Dean Elliott.

A preliminary investigation shows that the vehicle was northbound on South Locust Street at a high rate of speed, crossed over the southbound lanes and impacted a tree on the west side of the roadway in the 2600 block of South Locust Street, Elliott said.

One male occupant of the vehicle was ejected, and the three other men were trapped in the vehicle. All four men were dead at the scene upon the arrival of emergency personnel.

The men have been identified as Daniel White Face, 23, of Gordon; Afreya Thorsen, 19, of Gordon; Juan Ramos, 22, of Grand Island; and Alexander Ramos American Horse, 18, of Grand Island, Elliott said.

Next of kin have been notified. South Locust Street remained closed until 5:45 a.m. Oct. 13.

The investigation is ongoing with members of the Grand Island Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team working to reconstruct the crash and to help identify the driver of the vehicle, Elliott said.

Grand Island Police Department officers were assisted by the Grand Island Fire Department, Hall County Sheriff’s Department, Grand Island Street Department, Grand Island Utilities, and the Hall County Attorney’s Office.
