GRAND ISLAND — A highly-anticipated subdivision in Grand Island is nearing completion, and it’s thanks the city’s investment in the project.
Grand Island has invested $525,000 in public infrastructure to support Vermeer High Plains’ development in the Platte Valley-East Industrial Foundation Third Subdivision. The funding, which has been allocated through the city’s LB840 program, offers support for the extension of Cobalt Drive and enhancing of city-owned water and sanitary sewer services approximately 600 feet north of Wildwood Drive.
This upgrade will enable Vermeer High Plains to establish operations on eight acres in the southwest corner of Platte Valley-East, where they plan to construct a 20,000-square-foot building modeled after their Omaha location. The new facility will focus on the sale of new and used industrial equipment, remanufacturing, service and leasing of equipment, which they will be doing without the need for additional city or state incentives.

This investment underscores Grand Island’s attractiveness for industrial enterprises and promises a vibrant economic landscape ahead.”
The Platte Valley Industrial Park – East encompasses more than 380 acres of shovel-ready lots, located adjacent to the existing Platte Valley Industrial Park – West, which is home to 25 businesses including manufacturing, transportation, distribution and processing.
