GRAND ISLAND — The Grand Island Public Library is teaming up with the Grand Island Parks & Recreation Department and Platte Valley Astronomical Observers (PVAO) to invite the community to gaze up at the sky at Camp Augustine during the afternoon and evening of Saturday, November 9 for a “Star Party.”

Guest presenters from PVAO will bring telescopes and other equipment through which participants can observe the sky both during day and night hours. Night sky viewing will take place between 6:30-8 p.m.

In the event of cloudy weather, sky viewing will not take place, but participants can still attend the 6:00 p.m. night sky program inside the Visitor’s Center. In the event of hazardous weather, this event will be canceled, with notices being posted on the library’s website, online events calendar, and Facebook by 1 p.m. on November 9.
