LINCOLN — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol have arrested one person after a pursuit in Lancaster County.

This morning at approximately 10:25, NSP was notified that the Cass County Sheriff’s Office were in pursuit of a vehicle that had been driving recklessly and in the wrong lane of traffic on several roads in western Cass County.

After a short pursuit, deputies lost visual of the vehicle.
Just before 11:00 a.m., NSP received information that the subject believed to be involved in the previous pursuit may have been causing a disturbance at a gas station in Waverly. The subject reportedly left the gas station in a vehicle that matched the description of the vehicle that had fled from Cass County deputies.

Moments later, a trooper located the vehicle as it was traveling westbound on Highway 6 toward Lincoln. The trooper attempted a traffic stop, but the driver of the Subaru Legacy refused to yield and continued toward Lincoln. The trooper initiated a pursuit.

Once in Lincoln, the Subaru exited Highway 6 onto N. Cotner Boulevard. Before the vehicle could reach residential streets, the trooper performed a tactical vehicle intervention to bring the vehicle to a stop. The driver was then taken into custody without incident. Troopers located approximately 24 grams of suspected methamphetamine.

The driver, Sevelia Cook, 41, of Omaha, was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs, flight to avoid arrest, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under suspension, and refusal to submit to a DUI test. She was lodged in Lancaster County Jail.
