HOLDREGE — Adjacent Properties has received approval to pursue the development of a new childcare center building designed to support the growing needs of families in the Phelps County community.
Pending final approval, the proposed facility will be built behind the Medical Plaza, conveniently located near Holdrege Elementary School, and is intended to be designed to accommodate approximately 100 children.
This is in direct response to the shortage of long-term, guaranteed facilities available for local providers in the area. Adjacent Properties is currently in the early planning stages—focusing on building design, pricing, and securing the right layout to meet the needs of local families and providers. Following final board approval and permits, construction will be expected to begin in late 2025, with completion projected for 2026.
Importantly, Adjacent Properties will own and lease the building to a local childcare provider who will operate the center. The childcare provider will independently determine enrollment and fees, all families will still be subject to the provider’s standard tuition rates.
“Supporting local families with reliable childcare is critical to community growth,” said Jaimee Anderson, Director of Operations for Adjacent Properties. “We’re committed to investing in solutions that not only serve our area now, but also build a stronger foundation for the future.”
Partnership with HAECP
Adjacent Properties has played an active role in addressing early childhood education challenges in the Holdrege area through its participation in the Holdrege Area Early Childhood Partnership (HAECP). This coalition was initially established by the Holdrege Area Chamber of Commerce and is supported by the Nebraska Children and Families Foundation. The HAECP is working alongside local employers, school agencies, and childcare providers to strengthen the community’s early childhood infrastructure.
Adjacent Properties is proud to contribute to this momentum by creating a lasting facility that will help meet long-term childcare needs in Phelps County.
