MEMORIAL STADIUM RENOVATIONS COULD NOW BE IN THE RANGE OF $500 MILLION TO $1 BILLION DOLLARS:

Sources tell Josh Peterson of HuskerMax.com that the price tag on Memorial Stadium renovations is expected to top over $500 million.

When former Nebraska AD Trev Alberts announced plans for renovations back in 2022, costs were expected to be near $450 million. Plans were changed in 2024 when new AD Troy Dannen took over.

According to calculator.net, with inflation, roughly $493 million would equal the $450 of buying power in 2022 when plans were announced.

TOP ROYALS PROSPECT CAGLIANONE MAKES HOME DEBUT WITH STORM CHASERS:

The hottest ticket in the state last night was at Werner Park, as Jac Caglianone made his Omaha Storm Chasers home debut.

Unfortunately it was one to forget, as he went 0-5 with three strikeouts. Omaha defeated the St. Paul Saints, 7-5.

In his first week with the Kansas City Royals AAA affiliate, he has hit .290 with five Home Runs.

The series with the Saints continues tonight, with first pitch set for 6:35PM.

MISSOURI TO HOLD SPECIAL SESSION ON AID FOR TORNADO VICTIMS PLUS CHIEFS AND ROYALS STADIUMS:

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Missouri lawmakers are to kick off a special session Monday to consider aid for tornado victims and a package of financial incentives aimed at keeping the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals from leaving the state for new or improved facilities in neighboring Kansas.

Gov. Mike Kehoe announced the special session Tuesday, less than two weeks after a deadly tornado hit St. Louis and the Legislature wrapped up its work without giving final approval to a late-developing plan that would authorize state bonds for the Chiefs and Royals valued at up to half the cost of the stadium projects.

Missouri officials are scrambling to come up with an offer because Kansas lawmakers last year authorized bonds for up to 70% of the cost of new stadiums, paying them off over 30 years with revenues from sports betting, Kansas Lottery ticket sales, and new sales and alcohol taxes.
