Kearney High improved to 2-0 Friday night with a 27-0 win over Grand Island in the annual WOK/WOGI game.

After Grand Island fumbled on their opening drive, Kearney would covert the opening driving into points with Levi Pofahl punching in a touchdown from ten yards out, and Kearney would quickly pick up their second touchdown a couple minutes later with their first passing touchdown of the season. Zach Atchison would connect on a 41 yard pass to a wide open Canon Cope.

The Bearcats would tack on another touchdown in the second quarter through Pofahl’s second rushing touchdown with seven minutes to go to extend their lead to 21-0. Kearney High had the opportunity to add on another touchdown before halftime, but Atchison’s pass was intercepted by Dax Kirkland in the final minute.

Kearney would add two field goals in the second half from Carter Symington to further add onto their lead.

Kearney now takes on the Millard South Patriots next week. Millard South blanked Millard West 65-0 tonight. Grand Island has their home opener next week against Lincoln East, who defeated North Platte tonight 24-0.
