The top-seeded Amherst Broncos defeated the Cross County Cougars in four sets (25-15, 23-25, 25-19, 25-23) of the opening round of the NSAA D1 Volleyball State Championships.
Four Broncos had double digit kills, led by Libby Mitchell with 18, followed by 15 from Sadie Van Ranken, 13 from Addy Simmons, and 11 from Brooke Bosshammer. Mackenzie Cochran had 35 assists, and Breckyn Veskerna had 25 digs.
Amherst will take on Exeter-Milligan/Friend at 9AM on Friday. THe Bobcats defeated Ansley-Litchfield in straight sets (25-12, 25-12, 25-18)
