CENTRAL CITY — It is with a heavy heart that we share some important news. After much consideration, discussion, and careful evaluation, our partners have made the difficult decision to close the Fox Theater location in Central City, Nebraska, with the last day of operation planned for Jan. 15.

This decision was not made lightly. We have truly valued being part of the Central City community and providing a place where families and friends could come together to enjoy movies. However, the movie theater business has changed significantly in recent years, particularly in smaller markets.

After closely reviewing attendance trends and the long-term outlook for the industry, we have come to the conclusion that the community is not large enough to sustainably support two theaters over time.

We believe that by stepping away, it creates an opportunity for the community to rally around and support the remaining local theater, helping ensure that Central City continues to have a viable movie-going option for years to come. We sincerely hope the community will continue to embrace and support local entertainment, as that support is more important than ever in today’s environment.

We are deeply grateful for the loyalty and encouragement you have shown us over the years. It has been a privilege to serve Central City. While this chapter is coming to a close, we remain committed to bringing quality entertainment experiences to Nebraska through our other Fox Theater locations in Broken Bow and Cozad. We will also continue to work cooperatively with the City of Central City throughout this transition.

Thank you for allowing us to be part of your community. We appreciate your support and wish the very best for the future of local cinema in Central City.
