MINDEN — An Indiana man charged with motor vehicle homicide may return to home state after his bail was modified in Kearney Court.

Cory Rady, 30, of Indianapolis, Ind., has been charged with motor vehicle homicide – reckless/willful, a Class 3A felony; reckless driving – first offense, a Class 3 misdemeanor and violate a stop or yield sign, an infraction.

Rady appeared for a hearing on Dec. 18 after he had filed a motion to modify his bail and to release his cell phone.

The state objected to releasing the phone due to the pending investigation and also objected to modifying the bail due to the nature of the case.

Judge Michael Mead granted that Rady’s bail be modified and that he may return home to Indiana. However, a waiver of extradition was also signed.

Judge Mead ruled that Rady’s phone as soon as the Nebraska State Patrol have gathered all of the information that they need as part of their investigation.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Jan. 8, 2026, at 2 p.m.

Rady has been charged in relation to a fatal two-vehicle accident that occurred around 7:32 a.m. on Dec. 8 near the intersection of Highway 10 and 50-A Link, according to the Kearney County Sheriff’s Office.

“The GMC SUV was traveling northbound on Highway 10 when it collided with a white Ford F-250 pickup traveling eastbound on the 50-A Link. The Ford’s driver, Cory A. Rady of Ind., and passenger, Damian Wells of N.C., were wearing seat belt restraints and sustained non-life-threatening injuries,” per the Kearney County Sheriff.

Both were transported to a local medical facility for treatment. The driver of the GMC was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Two independent witnesses provided statements at the scene.

“The driver of the GMC SUV, who was pronounced deceased at the scene, was identified as 45-year-old Saul Barboza Montano of Minden,” the Kearney County Sheriff’s stated.
