KEARNEY — The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office said that illegal dumping of trash on county roads has become a growing issue in the area.
“County roads are not a dumping ground. Proper disposal options are available, and there is no excuse for leaving trash along public roadways,” per the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO).
It was noted that leaving trash and garbage along road ditches, creates safety hazards for motorists and first responders, harms wildlife and the environment, pollutes drainages and waterways and shifts the clean up costs to the taxpayer.
The BCSO asks residents who witness illegal trash dumping to report it and for anyone engaged in it to cease immediately.
“Let’s take pride in our community and keep our roads clean and safe,” the BCSO stated.
