KEARNEY — Buffalo Hills Elementary is excited to welcome featured storytellers from the Kearney Storytelling Festival on Thursday, Feb. 6.

The special visit will give students the opportunity to experience live storytelling that sparks imagination, encourages creativity, and fosters a love of stories.

Students in kindergarten through second grade will enjoy a storytelling session with Lynette (Lyn) Ford, a nationally and internationally recognized storyteller, author, and teaching artist. A two-time recipient of the National Storytelling Network’s prestigious ORACLE Award, Ford shares stories inspired by her childhood and Affrilachian culture, creating meaningful and engaging experiences for young audiences.

Students in grades three through five will hear from Paul Strickland, a professional storyteller and theatre artist from Kentucky. Known for his energetic performance style and imaginative storytelling, Strickland has been featured at major storytelling festivals across the country and brings humor, creativity, and enthusiasm to every performance.

The visit is part of the Kearney Storytelling Festival’s outreach efforts to bring the art of storytelling directly to students and schools.
