Graduate point guard Jillian Aschoff and freshman guard Myleigh Weers represent Nebraska Kearney on the 2026 All-MIAA women’s basketball team.
The team was released today prior to the start of the MIAA Tournament tomorrow in Kansas City. The league’s 14 coaches vote on the makeup of the squad and cannot select their own players.
Aschoff (Lincoln Pius X) made the second team with Weers (Diller-Odell) on the third team and tabbed “Freshman of the Year.” She is the first Loper to win that award since Debi Johnson was the 2009 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) F.O.Y.
Now a three-time All-MIAA honoree, Aschoff enters the postseason at 13.8 points, a team-best 7.2 rebounds, a team-best 6.1 assists, and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 83% from the line. Missing one game due to injury, she’s tied the single season record for assists (177), has set new career marks for assists (489) and triple doubles (two) and is the 30th Loper to reach 1,000 points (1,053). Finally, Aschoff is the fourth Loper to be a three-time All-MIAA pick.
Weers leads UNK in scoring (15.3) and needs just 14 points Wednesday vs. Missouri Western to set a record for points by a true freshman (456, Kalee Modlin; 2002-23). Missing one game, she’s had 10 20-point efforts and also supplies 3.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.6 steals per game. Finally, Weers is second on the team in made threes (49), made free throws (94) and FT pct. (.810).
The Lopers (15-15) are the 10th-seed in the MIAA’s and face MWSU (13-15) no earlier than 2:15 p.m.
