KEARNEY — Kearney and Amherst firefighters were on the scene of a structure fire in the Bison St. area northwest of Kearney during the evening of Friday, March 13.

Around 7 p.m., the Kearney Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the 5000 block of Bison St. for the report of a structure fire. A deputy who arrived on scene said the structure was fully engulfed.

The fire spread from the structure toward a tree line on the property, additional manpower was requested to help fight the fire. Amherst would later be paged to provide mutual aid, which arrived with a tanker and at least two grass rigs.

The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office and Kearney Police Department were on scene providing traffic control. Dawson Public Power District also responded to the scene.

The full extent of the fire and injuries, if any, was not available on scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
