KEARNEY — Ray Harrington from Rhode Island, who has been seen on Conan and Hulu is headlining a show at The World Theatre on Friday March 20. Mark Masters who has performed stand-up on ABC, from Denver, will also perform, with special guests.
Mark Masters brings a traveling comedy show to Kearney about once a year with a focus on cleaner comedy. “When it is done right, nobody even notices that it is clean,” said Masters, who is also known as Colorado’s second cleanest comedian. This year’s headliner, Ray Harrington is no stranger to clean comedy having told jokes on late night television.
“Being on the Conan O’Brien show right before the pandemic was a huge highlight. I live in New England and it’s extremely rare when a comic does late-night and doesn’t live in L.A. or New York. Conan was always a comedy hero to me and I knew that THAT was the show I wanted to do. As a comic, it was very special. Got a few applause breaks in the set which was nice, but it was making Conan and Andy laugh during the set and after that I’ll always remember,” said Harrington.
Mark Masters is looking forward to being back in Nebraska.
“I am in the thick of finalizing the Vail Comedy Festival which happens every Memorial Day Weekend, so I am looking forward to a good old fashioned comedy road trip, lots of laughs, and getting my mind off large event logistics and maybe spotting a Sandhill Crane or six hundred on this visit to Kearney” said Masters.
Harrington will tell jokes for two nights in Colorado at Vail Comedy Show, before heading to Nebraska with Masters, for three more nights of shows. After Kearney, the show will go on to The Fox Theatre in North Platte, Nebraska, and the tour will conclude in Ogallala at Second Chapter Brewing.
Show content will be PG-13 and tickets can be purchased on ComedyTicketing.com a no fee ticketing service that specializes in comedy tickets. Tickets start at $20 for General Admission, and $50 for VIP reserved seats. General Admission prices go up to $30 the week of the show and $40 the day of the show.
The World Theatre is a non-profit volunteer-run theatre. It first opened in 1927. After three years of renovations to restore a 1920’s vaudeville theatre feel it re-opened in 2012. Located in Downtown Kearney it offers first-class programming including digital movie screenings, and events like the comedy show on Friday March, 20.
