Two Nebraska baseball players signed pro contracts yesterday. Cade Povich, the Huskers’ first-team All-Big Ten pitcher, signed a deal with the Minnesota Twins. The Twins drafted the lefty from Bellevue West in the third round of the MLB Draft (No. 98 overall) last week. The Huskers’ Friday starter this past season, Povich finshed the year with 6-1 record and a team leading ERA of 3.11. Husker outfielder Jaxon Hallmark won’t be back next season after signing an undrafted free agent deal with the Houston Astros. Hallmark was a team captain last season and led the Huskers in batting average (.342), home runs (10) and stolen bases (16). Hallmark joins a Houston Astros organization that also features former Huskers Jake Meyers and Scott Schreiber.
