Husker head coach Scott Frost took to the podium yesterday during Big Ten Media Days at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. He said, without a doubt this is the most excited he’s been about his team.

A couple of other notes from Big Ten Media Days:
– Commissioner Kevin Warren said the Big Ten is taking a “decentralized decision-making process” toward handling COVID-19 issues heading into the fall, and will soon determine how outbreaks will impact competition.
– Trev Alberts assured fans that printed tickets will be an option this fall for season ticket holders.
– The 2021 Nebraska football media guide is now available for downloading at HUSKERS.com.

The Huskers open the season with a Week-Zero road game at Illinois, Saturday August 28th. Kickoff will be at noon.

A couple of other player notes:
– Transfer running back Markese Stepp should be close to 100 percent by the start of fall camp but will “be on a pitch count early.”
– True freshman tight end Thomas Fidone, who tore an ACL in spring practice, might be able to play late in the season.
– Running back Ronald Thompkins, who battled injuries before entering the transfer portal in May, announced his retirement from football.
– Nebraska walk-on linebacker Zach Schlager has entered the transfer portal.

Another member of the Nebraska baseball team is leaving for the major leagues. Junior reliever Cam Wynne signed a deal with the Philadelphia Phillies yesterday. Selected in the 20th round of the MLB Draft, the 6-6 right hander from Lincoln made 17 relief appearances last season and posted a 3.12 ERA.
