REIMER EARNS BIG TEN DEFENSIVE HONOR
Nebraska sophomore linebacker Luke Reimer was honored Monday morning as the Big Ten’s Defensive Player of the Week following the Huskers’ 28-3 win over Buffalo.
Reimer, a 6-1, 225-pound Lincoln native, totaled a career-high 16 tackles and an interception in helping the Blackshirts hold a second straight opponent to single figures. His 16 tackles marked his third career double-figure tackle game and topped his previous best of 12 at Iowa last season.
REIMER – INTERCEPTION HELPED CHANGE THE GAME

Reimers also had a solo tackle stopping a conversion on fourth down and three, as well as had the most tackles for a single Husker since the 2015 season.
UNK FOOTBALL IN TOP 25
The Nebraska-Kearney football team is ranked 23rd in the latest Division 2 Coaches Poll.
This is the first time the Lopers (2-0) have been ranked in a decade. In 2011, UNK went 11-2 and reached the NCAA Playoffs. That team, competing in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), got as high as fourth in the poll which tied a program record.
UNK hosts the No. 29 Washburn Ichabods (2-0) Saturday at 1 p.m. WU is the last team to beat Kearney, winning 57-41 almost two years ago at Cope Stadium.
NEBRASKA VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO NUMBER 6
The AVCA Coaches Poll was released today. Nebraska previously held the No. 3 spot but fell to No. 6 after a loss to Utah on Saturday night.
Nebraska did beat Creighton last Wednesday in a 3-0 sweep, but gave up a two set lead to Utah Saturday night.
The Huskers next opponent, Stanford, sits at No. 16.

Special teams had plenty of miscues again on Saturday, losing a punt return and missing three field goals. Two touchdowns were also taken away due to penalties.
NEBRASKA/MICHIGAN STATE KICKOFF SET
The Big Ten Conference and FOX announced that Nebraska’s Sept. 25 game at Michigan State will kick off at 6 p.m. CST with the game televised on FS1. The game will also be on the Husker Radio Network on KGFW.
LOPER FOOTBALL COMES BACK TO WIN IN PITTSBURG
UNK Quarterback TJ Davis threw three touchdown passes and ran for another score as the Lopers came back from a 17-7 halftime deficit to win 28-17 over #23 Pittsburg State.
UNK will likely enter the D2 Top 25 this week for the first time since the 2011 playoffs.
UNK hosts Washburn (2-0) next Saturday at Cope Stadium. The Ichabods have beaten Lincoln and Central Missouri to date. UNK last faced Washburn in the regular season finale in 2019.
LOPER VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS WEEKEND FALL CLASSIC
Third ranked UNK dominated all weekend at home in the Rosella Meier Fall Classic, improving to 8-0 on the season and beating other national powerhouses along the way.
UNK downed Chadron State and Southern Nazarene on Friday, followed by a 3-0 sweep of previously unbeaten and ranked West Texas.
UNK hosts Emporia State and nationally-ranked Washburn up next weekend.
HUSKER WRESTLERS QUALIFY FOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Former Husker greats Jordan Burroughs and James Green secured a spot on the U.S. team and will compete at the 2021 Senior World Championships on Oct. 2-10 in Oslo, Norway after winning their divisions at the Senior World Team Trials hosted in Lincoln.
