NEBRASKA FOOTBALL POSTGAME COMMENTS:

FROST – LITTLE MISTAKES COST US GAME

Nebraska fell flat on Saturday’s matchup with Minnesota, falling in a 21-9 hole early before eventually losing to the Gophers 30-23.

Head Coach Scott Frost mentioned after the game that he felt the team missed on little details…

Frost added that he felt players came out flat for the 11 AM kickoff resulting in the slow start. The Huskers have their first bye week of the season this week.

FROST – WAS NOT CONFIDENT ON SNEAK ON 4TH AND GOAL

A puzzling moment from the Nebraska-Minnesota game was Nebraska not going under center for a 4th down and goal from the Minnesota one yard line, instead handing the ball off from shotgun resulting in a turnover on downs.

Head Coach Scott Frost explains why the Huskers were not under center…

The Huskers had three drives end in Minnesota territory without any points, falling 30-23 on Saturday.

FROST – NEEDED MORE OPPORTUNITIES FOR SUCCESS

Head Coach of the Huskers Scott Frost spoke in his post game press conference addressing the need for the Big Red to get out early…

The Huskers trailed 21-9 entering halftime, and attempted to pass more than the running for the first time this season.

FROST – MINNESOTA WON FIRST, HUSKERS HAD SECOND HALF

Nebraska fell to Minnesota on Saturday 30-23 using big plays from the first half to accelerate by the Huskers in the opening 30 minutes.

Head Coach Scott Frost credits the extra week of preparation for Minnesota in their early advantage…

The Huskers have their first bye week of the season this week before taking on Purdue on October 30.

DOMANN – FOUGHT FOR CHINANDER

Defensive Coordinator Erik Chinander lost his father in a car accident on Friday morning prior to the Minnesota contest. Chinander elected to coach against the Gophers, and senior captain JoJo Domann adds that he wishes the outcome would have been different for his effort…

Chinander will take time away from the team this week during the Huskers bye week.

TAYLOR-BRITT – HAD TO WAKE UP FOR EARLY GAME

During his post game press conference, cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt was asked what contributed to the Blackshirts sluggish start against Minnesota…

The Huskers only allowed 9 points in the second half after giving up 21 in the opening 30 minutes. The Huskers have a bye week this week.

UNK FOOTBALL OVERCOMES BACK-AND-FORTH CONTEST AT EMPORIA

Junior quarterback TJ Davis threw for a career-high 307 yards, the defense made two stands inside the 10-yard line and No. 21 Nebraska-Kearney survived a late on-side kick recovery by Emporia State to win 42-35 Saturday in Kansas.

In a game with 77 points, 1,128 yards of offense, 10 punts and three turnovers, the Hornets were strong early, the Lopers controlled the middle of the game and then Emporia closed hard.

The Lopers improved to 6-1 and are now in first place in the MIAA standings. No. 2 Northwest Missouri State fell Saturday at Washburn, 17-16, to drop to 5-1. UNK travels to Northwest on Oct. 30.

The Lincoln Blue Tigers (0-6) come to Cope Stadium next Saturday at 2 p.m.
