ALBERTS – CREATING THE BEST FAN EXPERIENCE IN ATHLETICS

Athletic Director Trev Alberts spoke on Sports Nightly Tuesday night for his monthly show, and addressed the need for fans to voice their opinions for improvements to Husker Athletic facilities…

Alberts continued that building a winning program also aids in the experience. Husker Athletics will soon release surveys for fans to take to share their thoughts on what can be improved.

ALBERTS – FOOTBALL HIRES NOT INFLUENCED BY ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

Trev Alberts made his monthly appearance on Sports Nightly last night. When asked how the offensive coaching staff hires for the Football program has been going, Alberts stated he’s allowing Head Coach Scott Frost to make those decisions…

Alberts continued that he wants to see Frost build a staff that can find continued success for Husker Football, and that no timetable has been set to hire a staff as of yet.

ALBERTS – NEBRASKA TIES NOT NECESSARY FOR EMPLOYMENT

Nebraska Athletic Director Trev Alberts joined Sports Nightly for his monthly appearance on Tuesday and spoke about the ongoing hiring process for the Nebraska Football offensive coaching vacancies.

HUSKER FOOTBALL LOSES ANOTHER TO TRANSFER PORTAL

Marvin Scott III became the second running back signed to the Class of 2020 to enter the transfer portal, joining Sevion Morrison who had previously announced his transfer intentions.

Scott is the first NU player on the roster to enter the portal since the Iowa game and the conclusion of the Huskers’ 2021 regular season.

Scott played in four games this past season, carrying the ball 17 times for 66 yards and two touchdowns, with one catch for nine yards.

NEBRASKA DEFENDERS NAMED TO ALL-BIG TEN LIST

Cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt and nickel back JoJo Domann led seven Husker Blackshirts who received All-Big Ten accolades

Taylor-Britt earned second-team all-league honors from both the Coaches and the Media, earning second-team All-Big Ten accolades for the second straight year.

One of the conference’s most versatile defenders, Domann was a second-team All-Big Ten choice as a linebacker by the Big Ten Coaches and earned third-team recognition from the media panel.

Five Nebraska defenders earned honorable-mention accolades on Tuesday. Defensive linemen Damion Daniels and Ben Stille, linebacker Luke Reimer and safety Deontai Williams were honorable-mention selections on both teams, while safety Marquel Dismuke was recognized by the conference coaches.

The Big Red beat 2021 NCAA Tournament qualifier and Colonial Athletic Association champion Drexel (65-53) before knocking off the hosts from San Diego (64-56) on Saturday at Jenny Craig Pavilion.

NEBRASKA MEN’S BASKETBALL HOIBERG MONDAY SPORTS NIGHTLY COMMENTS:

HOIBERG – NC STATE PREVIEW FOR BIG TEN/ACC CHALLENGE

Nebraska Men’s Basketball Coach Fred Hoiberg previewed the opportunistic defense that the Huskers will see tonight as they take on the Wolfpack of NC State…

Hoiberg added that this week’s focus in practice was the same as prior weeks – better shot selection and team defense.

Nebraska tips off with NC State on the road at 6:15 PM tonight.

HOIBERG – SOUTH DAKOTA WAS HUSKERS’ BEST PERFORMANCE

Nebraska Men’s Basketball Head Coach Fred Hoiberg was a guest on Sports Nightly Monday night and said he felt his team’s performance against South Dakota was there best so far on the young season…

The Huskers are back in action tonight against North Carolina State in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge at 6:15 PM.

HOIBERG – HUSKERS NEED TO FIND MORE CONSISTENT SHOOTING

Head Coach of the Husker Men’s Basketball team Fred Hoiberg was a guest on Sports Nightly and said he’s looking for his team to find a more consistent shot selection…

Hoiberg contributed many good shots due to the presence of Derrick Walker who has four straight double-digit point total games since being shut-out against Creighton.

UNK MEN’S BASKETBALL EDGED BY WAYNE IN FINAL MOMENTS

Wayne State hit a three with 12 seconds left to edge Nebraska-Kearney, 67-64, Monday night at Rice Auditorium.

The Wildcats, a 2021 NCAA Tournament team who was picked to finish second in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conf. (NSIC) this year, improve to 4-3 while the Lopers fall to 3-2

Alliance senior forward Austin Luger had a game-high 19 points thanks to 7 of 9 field goal shooting, including three three pointers on three attempts.

UNK travels to Emporia State (5-1) Thursday night to begin MIAA play.

HASTINGS COLLEGE WOMEN CAN’T ESCAPE BELLEVUE RALLY

The Hastings College women’s basketball team led by as many as 13 points in the second half only to see Bellevue wipe that lead away and escape with the 92-87 victory on Monday evening inside the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.

The Lady Broncos led by 13 at halftime and held a 54-41 lead over the Bruins but Bellevue caught fire in the second half.

Senior Ali Smith led the way for Hastings with 22 points on 8-of-10 shooting including a perfect 5-for-5 from the charity stripe.

Hastings falls to 6-3 (2-1) on the year and will be back in action Friday Dec. 3 hitting the road to take on Dakota Wesleyan with tipoff set for 6:00 pm inside the Corn Palace in Mitchell, SD.

COOK NCAA TOURNAMENT COMMENTS:

COOK – BRACKET CREATES INTERESTING DISCUSSION

Head Coach of Nebraska Volleyball John Cook was asked his thoughts on the overall NCAA Volleyball bracket and the Huskers placement as a number 10 seed…

The Huskers host the first two contests of their regional at the Devaney Center on Friday and Saturday. Friday’s contests pits Florida State against Kansas State and Nebraska against Campbell.

COOK – REMINDERS OF UPSETS IN FIRST ROUNDS

Head Coach John Cook is pleased his Huskers have the chance to host the first two rounds of the NCAA Volleyball tournament in Lincoln, but added he doesn’t want his team to lose focus on the first few matches of the bracket…

Back in 2011, Nebraska was the Number 2 seed and lost to an unranked Kansas State in Lincoln. Kansas State takes on Florida State in the first contest in Lincoln on Friday at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

COOK – BIG TEN SHOULD HAVE EARNED HIGHER SEEDS

Head Coach of Nebraska Volleyball John Cook was mildly shocked to see Big Ten schools not receive higher seeds in the NCAA Tournament despite playing tougher schedules…

The Big Ten had five teams receive Top 16 national seeds: No. 4 Wisconsin as Big Ten Champions, Purdue at No. 6, No. 9 Ohio State, No. 10 Nebraska, and No. 12 Minnesota. Illinois and Penn State were also selected in the 64 team field.

The Huskers finished second in the Big Ten conference.
